Show season 2016 is in full swing. Last weekend was the National Exhibition in Stafford, England and I won Best Novice Scots Fancy and my unflighted Belgian cock was complimented.

The National Exhibition is run by the Parrot Society and 19 clubs, mine is the Old Varieties Canary Association [OVCA], hold their club shows within the event. The Best Scotch Fancy was won by Ray Smith from Oxford with  a clear white. Martin Walker was Best Novice Old Variety. Best Champion and Best in the two sections (  Old & Rare Breeds ) was a Lancashire Plainhead exhibited by Brian Hogg. The Best Rare Breed and Best Novice was Fernando Canada with a Raza Espanol. The Best Champion Rare was Chris Smith with a Fiorino Frill. The total entry was 259 birds entered with 226 on the show bench on the day.

I prefer my yellow bird to the one which won but that's the way it goes.

I also bought some new Gibosos - the National has a huge bird and bird supplies sales day as well as the show.

Loanhead Cage Bird Society show is tomorow, 15 October 2016 - my birds are entered now. I hope my white Norwich cock may do well.

I've been very remiss in keeping up my blog. I had a good breeding season - 33 chicks bred and today was the first show - Northern Counties Scots Fancy Club show in Carlisle England.

This is my final show season as a novice and so I was pleased to win Best Novice; Best clear buff, best yellow, best white and Best Belgian - a new venture for me this year although I only bred two.
